St. Catherine’s of Hope serves women and families with a mix of naturally occurring affordable housing and subsidized units for those who have previously experienced homelessness. Home to more than two hundred residents, St. Catherine’s is not only a safe and sable housing option but an enduring community of women. 

The St. Catherine’s Residence was initially established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1894, providing housing to women moving to Milwaukee from rural areas for work and school. In the 1960’s St. Catherine’s moved to its current building and has evolved to serve women at various stages of their lives. In 2021, Hope House was gifted the St. Catherine’s Residence from our partners at Mercy Housing – enabling us to grow our response to those experiencing homelessness and ensure St. Catherine’s legacy of supporting women in need continues.
